BC Transit will be putting into service 6 new Orion VII hybrid buses on Friday April 17th, 2009.   The buses will replace a portion of the aging fleet which has been in service since the late 1980s. Orion touts that the new diesel-electric hybrid buses offers substantially better fuel economy compared to diesel engines without the hybrid technology.¹   In addition, the new hybrid buses have lower emissions, and demonstrated improved reliability.²  A press conference to dedicate the new buses was held at the BC Transit facility located at 413 Old Mill Rd Vestal, NY on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 1:30PM.
