ATTENTION BC LIFT, BC COUNTRY, OR OFA-MINI BUS PASSENGERS:   THE PHONE NUMBER TO MAKE RESERVATIONS OR TO CONFIRM OR CANCEL RIDES WILL CHANGE TO (607) 763-TRIP (763-8747) EFFECTIVE JULY 12, 2010.

 
Starting July 12, 2010, if you need to schedule a ride or obtain information, you will be prompted to a new Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system.  This system will guide you through your personalized ride information and greatly improve our ability to provide you with more timely information. 
 
Current users of these services will be mailed the instructions about navigating the system along with a client ID number and password.  

 

Phone Instructions
Call 763-TRIP (763-8747)
 
The call will begin with a greeting of “Welcome to the BC Paratransit Information Line”
 
You will then be asked the following information:
 
Please enter your Client ID (you will find your ID enclosed with your letter)
Please enter your password (you will find your password enclosed with your letter).
 
Now follow the instructions to identify the purpose of your call:
 
To confirm a previously-booked trip – press 1
To cancel a trip – press 2
To book a new trip – press 3
To check your account information – press 4
To change your password – press 5
To hear any general announcements – press 6
 
(Descriptions for each option are below)
 
 
 
1. To confirm a previously-booked trip
 
If you pressed 1 to confirm a previously-booked trip, you will be asked the following questions: (Remember your ride information will be available the afternoon before your requested ride)
 
  • To hear a list of all your trips on a specific date, press 1
(you would then choose a date from a list of trips that have been scheduled for you)
  • To hear a list of all your trips, press 2
  • If you know your booking ID number, press 3
(once you book a trip, the system will give you an ID number for that trip)
 
 
2. To cancel a trip
 
If you pressed 2 to cancel a trip, you will be asked the following questions:
 
  • To cancel a single booking, press 1 (to cancel a pickup OR a return trip)
  • To cancel all bookings for a particular day, press 2 (to cancel both pickup and return for all rides scheduled for you on the day you indicated)
  • To cancel all bookings within a date range, press 3 (then you will choose a date range)
 
 
3. To book a new trip
 
Please note: When you book a trip, you are entering your ride information. It does not guarantee that you will get the ride. You will be called with a confirmation of your ride the afternoon prior to your requested ride. Or, you may call for a confirmation the afternoon prior to your requested ride (see 1. To Confirm a Previously-Booked Trip).
 
The information you provide is for a one-way trip. After you book this trip, you will be given instructions for booking your return trip, or multiple trips.
 
If you pressed 3 to book a new trip, you will be asked the following information:
 
  • Please select the purpose of your trip from the following list.
(For example: If the purpose of your trip is medical, press 1; if the purpose is employment, press 2, etc.)
 
  • The travel date for your new booking must be between _(you will be given a one-week range of dates to choose from)
 
  • Please enter the date for your new booking. 
      (For example: For Monday, press 1, for Tuesday, press 2, etc)
 
  • The travel times available on that day are between __(you will be given the times available)
 
  • Please enter the time you wish to be picked up. 
      If you have an appointment, enter the time 30 minutes before your appointment.
 
  • Enter 1 for a.m., enter 2 for p.m.
 
  • Please select your pickup location from the following list of addresses: 
(for example, press 1 for your home address; press 2 for your doctor’s address, etc)
 
  • Please select your drop off location from the following list of addresses:
(for example, press 1 for your home address; press 2 for Walmart, etc.)
 
  • It is possible to request space for additional passengers that will accompany you on your trip.
    • To add an additional passenger, press 1.
    • To continue booking this trip, press 2.
 
  • Please listen to the following information and verify that the trip information is accurate.
 
  • To book this trip, press 1
 
  • To abort this trip, press 2
 
If you have booked the trip, you will be given a 7-digit booking number. Please make a note of it. It will be repeated once.
 
 
After you have booked the trip, the computer will give you the following choices:
 
  • To repeat the booking information, press the star key (* -- lower left, under the 7)
 
  • To hear a list of all the trips booked for this day, press 1
 
  • To book a return journey for this trip on the same day, press 2
(you will then select the time and your drop off location for your return trip)
 
  • To return to the main menu, press the pound key (# -- lower right, below the 9)
 
  • To end this call, simply hang up.
 
 
4. To check your account information
 
If you pressed 4 to check your account information, the computer will tell you the information we have on file for you, including your ID number, your name, your address, phone number, etc. If any of this information has changed or is incorrect, please press 0 (zero) to speak to an Information Specialist.
 
 
5. To change your password
 
If you pressed 5 to change your password, the computer will ask you for your old password and what you would like your new password to be.
 
 
6. To hear any general announcements
 
If you pressed 6 to hear any general announcements, the system will relay information that affects many riders. For example, you will hear the emergency number to call if your bus is more than 15 minutes late, or you will be notified if yourbus was cancelled due to snow storms or other emergencies.
